Indian Stock Market - Morning Update (Friday)

Global Markets are looking mixed this morning, Dow is up 0.25%, Nasdaq up by 0.49%. But Asian markets are in red Nikkei is down -1.73%,Hang-Seng Index is down 1.49% and FTSE 100 (europe) is down by 0.73%.

Indian Stock Market - Evening Update (Thursday)

It was a positive volatile day, Sensex started with a bang and kissed an all time high of 12,086 , during the end of the trading session there was lot of selling seen mainly today being the F&O settlement day. Due to this selling the Sensex closed below 12K mark at 11,835 down -103.51 -0.87%
Good thing to note was MidCap & SmallCap fared well and closed on green !!
The highlight of the day was Reliance Industries which posted a result above dalal street expectations, the stock ended the day at Rs.996 +19 +1.97%

Indian Stock Market - Morning Update (Thursday)

Global Markets are looking great this morning, Dow up 0.63%, Nasdaq up by 0.14%, IBOVESPA up by 1.69%. Asian markets are also in green Nikkei is up 0.55%,Taiwan Index is up 0.26% and FTSE 100 (europe) is up by 0.29%.

Satyam was up 1.65% at 36 USD
Wipro is up by 0.99% at 14 USD
Patni Computers is down 13.34% at 17 USD

ICICI Bank down 1.93% at 27 USD
Others:
VSNL is up 1.88% at 19 USD
Dr. Reddy's Lab is up 1.83% at 32 USD

Sensex Bounces back in Style, 291 point Rally

Indian stock market bounced back strongly today with a +291 point rally and Nifty had a +93 point rally, after having a 3-day fall.The day started of cautiously and but as the results of Maruti Udyog and Semines came out, Sensex started to bounce back and there was wide spread buying across the board.
Sensex ended the day at 11,938.53 up +291 or +2.5%

Global Markets are looking mixed today, while Dow is down -0.47%, the Asian are looking better, SSE composite is up by +1% and Nikkei is up by +0.27%
Oil prices cooled down a bit and have come down to $72/barrel

Indian Stock Market - Evening Update (Monday)

Indian stock market closed in red today, The day started of cautiously and it continued throughout the day, there was profit bookings in few stocks like VSNL and Wipro. Finally Sensex closed below 12K mark at 11,915.24 down -115.06 -0.96%, however MidCap and SmallCap indices in BSE did well today to gain 45 and 91 points respectively.BSE Banking index lost 2%.
Newly listed stock Sun TV had a great opening, the stock listed at a price of 875 and closed at 1466 up 591 points or 67%.

Indian Stock Market - Morning Update (Monday)

Global markets are looking mixed today, Dow closed at 11,347 and Nasdaq was down by 19 points to close at 2,342 on Friday. Today morning the Chinese market is looking dull , both Shanghai and Hang Seng are down each by -0.46% and -0.26%, Nikkei is down by -2.1%.While Europe market is up by 51 points at 0.84% and Taiwan market is up by 0.32%.

Sensex closed almost flat but with lost of volatility on Friday, I hope the results announced today will help the market sentiment.

Indian Stock Market - Week in Review

Week in Review : 17 to 21 Apr,2006
This week was historical, Sensex closed well above 12,000 mark and achieved another milestone.This week also saw Tech Giants like TCS and Wipro posting results beyond dalal street expectations, but yesterday Satyam's number were slightly below expectation which changed the market sentiment a bit and for the first time in the week, markets closed in red, But Satyam achieved a key milestone as a company, becoming a $1 bn company, with this it can bid for bigger orders.

On Monday Sensex opened at 11,237 and closed on Fri at 12,030 up by a whooping +793 points rally.

Highlights
- The week also saw few more Indian companies joining the $1 bn club
- The RPL IPO closed on 20-Apr-2006 and it created new history

BSE MidCap
Monday : 5,370 and closed on Friday at 5,627.29 up by +257 points

BSE SmallCap
Monday : 6,738 and closed on Friday at 6,998 up +260 points

Nifty also ended at historic high
Monday : 3,345 and closed on Friday at 3,573 up +228 points.

Nifty Junior
Monday : 6,383 and closed on Friday at 6,599 up +216 points.

CNX IT
Monday : 4140.45 and closed on Friday at 4,463 up +323 points.

CNX 100
Monday : 3268.85 and closed on Friday at 3,474 up +206 points.


This weeks Star was Reliance, which touched a new high and it's RPL IPO over subscribing by 50 times or more.Their stocks jumped by about 15% to close on Friday at 974.

Indian stock market closed flat today, The day started with a good jump and at one point Sensex touched all time high of 12,102 points, as the Satyam results came out which were below market expectations , the market reacted to it and the negative trend started. Finally Sensex was down marginally by -9 points to close at 12,030.

Satyam Q4 net up 36%, to pay bonus, dividend

Satyam Computer Services Ltd today posted a 35.96 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 289.90 crore for the quarter ended March 31 as compared to Rs 213.21 crore in the same period last fiscal.
Total income increased 31.56 per cent to Rs 1,287.52 crore for fourth quarter in 2005-06 from Rs 978.64 crore in the year-ago period, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Global outsourcing biz creates record

The first quarter of 2006 has seen the global outsourcing industry posting a record performance. The segment saw $22.7 billion in total contract value (TCV) for contracts valued at $50 million or more, up 173% y-o-y, comprising a record number of 83 outsourcing transactions, according to TPI Index, a quarterly report on the state of the global outsourcing industry by sourcing advisory firm TPI Inc.

Eight new firms join $1 bn club

Hindustan Copper, BF Utilities, Unitech, Century Textiles, Kirloskar Brothers, Aban Lloyd Chiles, Balrampur Chini and Biocon have joined the $1 billion market cap club, taking the $ 1 billion membership to 112.

Three weeks back, on March 27, when Sensex closed at over 11,000 level, there were 104 members in the club.

These 112 companies collectively account for 76 per cent market capitalisation of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Reliance Industries, National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), TCS and Infosys Technologies have market-cap over $20 billion.
