Sensex opened in a positive note and at one time gained more than 100 points , later in the day (about 01:00) due to profit booking the sensex crashed down to finally close the day and week below 11,600 at 11,589 down by 157 points or 1.3% .

"There are rumours that a few foreign funds have been asked by the SEBI to square positions in the derivatives segment," said a trader.
Nifty also opened aggressively and touched a new high of 3,555 but due to selling pressure crashed down to 3,454 -56 -1.6%
